5. Freeze Grapes to Chill Drinks Without Dilution
Ice cubes water down drinks. Frozen grapes keep beverages cold without changing the flavor. Wash, dry, and freeze them ahead of time.
They work well in wine, juice, or sparkling water and double as a snack once the glass is empty.
6. Wooden Spoon to Stop Boil Overs
Place a wooden spoon across the top of a pot while boiling pasta or rice. The spoon disrupts the bubbles and reduces the chance of foam spilling over.
This works best when the pot is not filled to the rim and should be used as prevention, not a replacement for supervision.
7. Peel Ginger With a Spoon
Ginger’s shape makes peeling with a knife awkward. A spoon scrapes away the skin while preserving the flesh underneath.
It is safer, faster, and wastes less ginger, especially around knobby edges.
8. Marshmallows to Keep Brown Sugar Soft
Brown sugar hardens because it loses moisture. Add two or three marshmallows to the container and seal it tightly.
The marshmallows release enough moisture to keep the sugar soft without changing its flavor.
