Once You Learn This, You Will Never Throw Avocado Pit Away

Most people don’t think twice about it.
You slice open an avocado, remove the pit, and toss it straight into the trash.

But what if that hard seed in the center is actually the most useful part?

The picture above shows a simple method that turns an avocado pit into something you can actually use at home—and once you learn it, throwing it away feels like a mistake.
The Hidden Avocado Pit Trick Nobody Talks About

That brown pit may look useless, but it’s packed with fiber and antioxidants. In many traditional kitchens, it was never considered waste. Instead, it was dried, grated, and reused.

The image shows exactly how people do it.
Avocado Pit Powder Recipe (Based on the Picture)
What You’ll Need

1 avocado pit

A grater

A knife

A cutting board

That’s it.
Step 1: Remove and Clean the Pit

After cutting your avocado, remove the pit and rinse it under water to remove any leftover flesh.

Pat it dry with a towel.
Step 2: Let the Pit Dry

Place the pit in a dry spot for 1–2 days.
This makes it much easier to grate and helps preserve it.

(Some people dry it near a window or in a warm kitchen.)
Step 3: Cut the Pit Carefully

Once dry, use a knife to gently split or score the pit (as shown in the picture).
Be careful — the pit is hard.
Step 4: Grate the Pit

Using a regular kitchen grater, grate the pit into fine shavings.
You’ll notice it turns into a reddish-brown powder.

This is the key moment shown in the image.
