Apple Pie with Plates
A large apple pie, perfect for serving a large crowd, baked on a sheet pan and cut into squares for easy enjoyment.
Ingredients
For the pie:
3¾ cups flour (470 g)
1½ tablespoons sugar
1½ teaspoons salt
3 sticks unsalted butter (340 g), cold and cut into pieces
¾ cups very cold water
For the apple filling:
3½–4 lbs apples, peeled, cored and chopped (about 100 g)
Juice from ½ lemon
⅔–¾ cups sugar (adjust depending on the sweetness of the apple)
3 tablespoons cornstarch
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
¼ teaspoon nutmeg
¼ teaspoon ground allspice
⅛ teaspoon salt
