• Spread the pecans in a single layer on a baking sheet.
• Toast for 6–8 minutes, stirring halfway through. Watch carefully—they can burn quickly!
• Let them cool completely before assembling your treats.
Step 2: Arrange the Pecans
This is where the classic “turtle” shape comes together.
•
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
• For each treat, arrange 3 to 4 pecan halves in a “Y” or cross shape. These represent the turtle’s legs and head.
• Space them out so they don’t stick together once the caramel and chocolate are added.
Step 3: Melt and Add the Caramel
Soft, chewy caramel is the heart of the turtle treat.
• Place the caramels and 2 tablespoons of whipped cream in a microwave-safe bowl.
• Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until smooth and pourable.
• Using a spoon, scoop a generous teaspoon of melted caramel into the center of each pecan cluster. Drizzle lightly over the nuts – this will hold everything together.
• Let the caramel set for 10-15 minutes at room temperature or refrigerate for a faster texture.
