🍽 Preparation:
1️⃣ Caramelize the onions:
Heat the butter and olive oil in a large pot. Add the chopped onion and cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the onion is soft and golden brown – about 20-30 minutes. The longer, the better the flavor! 🧅✨
Add the wine and cook for a few minutes, until the liquid has partially evaporated. 🍷
2️⃣ Cooking the soup:
Pour the broth into the pot with the onion. Add salt, pepper, and optional thyme sprigs or bay leaf. Simmer for about 15-20 minutes to let the flavors meld. 🍖🍃
