Homemade Doughnut Recipe


1. In a small bowl, activate the yeast in warm water with a little sugar. Let it sit until foamy.
2. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
3. Add melted butter and the yeast mixture. Mix until dough forms.
4. Knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
5. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size (about 1–2 hours).
6. Roll out dough to ½-inch thickness and cut into doughnut shapes.
7. Let the cut doughnuts rest for 20–30 minutes until slightly puffy.
8. Fry in hot oil (350°F / 175°C) until golden brown on each side.
9. Drain on paper towels and coat with sugar or glaze.
