Despite its usefulness for the hotel, many hygiene experts suggest that the bed runner (along with decorative “throw pillows”) is often the least-washed item in the room. Unlike the sheets and pillowcases, which are changed daily, bed runners might only be laundered once a week or even less frequently unless they are visibly soiled.
Pro Tip: If you are a germaphobe, the first thing you should do upon entering a hotel room is fold the bed runner and decorative pillows and place them in a chair or the closet!
