Mushroom and Ham Puff Pastry: Crispy, Creamy and Irresistible

2. Assemble the puff pastry and bake
Preheat the oven to 200 XC (convection oven).
Roll out the puff pastry on a baking sheet lined with baking paper.
Spread the filling in the middle of the dough, leaving the edges free.
Cut diagonally from the edges of the dough into strips to form a braid (as shown in the picture).
Fold the ends and weave the strips across the filling.
Brush the entire surface with the beaten egg yolk and a small amount of water.
Bake for 25-30 minutes until the top is golden brown and crisp.
Chef’s tip:
You can substitute chicken breast, leftover roast or, for a vegetarian version, spinach for the ham.
Cheese makes all the difference: try the Gruy-Trexre – and Parmesan cheese blend for an even bolder flavor.
For an even more luxurious version, add a spoonful of CR xxxme fra xxxche to the filling.
