Step 2: Cook the Base
In a medium saucepan, combine:
Sugar
Evaporated milk
Place over medium-high heat
Bring to a full boil, stirring constantly with a wooden spoon or silicone spatula
Step 3: Boil for 5 Minutes
Once boiling, reduce heat to medium
Let it boil gently for exactly 5 minutes — no more, no less
Stir the entire time to prevent scorching
Why 5 minutes?
It’s the sweet spot — long enough to thicken, short enough to avoid graininess.
Step 4: Remove & Mix
Remove from heat
Immediately add:
Chocolate chips
Marshmallow fluff
Vanilla extract
Whisk vigorously until smooth and glossy — about 1–2 minutes
Don’t stop too soon — the fluff needs to fully incorporate.
Step 5: Pour & Chill
Pour the mixture into the prepared pan
Smooth the top with a spatula
Let cool at room temperature 10–15 minutes
