Step-by-step method:
Step 1: Prepare the pie crust
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Combine graham cracker crumbs, sugar, melted butter, and a pinch of salt in a medium bowl.
Stir until mixture resembles wet sand.
Press mixture firmly into bottom and up sides of 9-inch (23 cm) pie pan. Bake for 8–10 minutes until golden brown and set. Remove pie from oven and let cool while you prepare filling.
Step 2: Make cheesecake layer
In a medium bowl, beat cream cheese with sugar until smooth and creamy.
Add egg and vanilla extract, then beat again until completely combined and free of lumps.
Pour mixture over cooled pie, spreading evenly.
Step 3: Make pecan layer
In another bowl, beat together corn syrup, brown sugar, eggs, melted butter, vanilla extract, and salt until well blended.
Stir in the pecan halves until evenly coated with the mixture.
Step 4: Assemble and Bake
Carefully spoon the pecan mixture over the cheesecake layer. Pour carefully to avoid disturbing the creamy layer below.
Place the pie on a baking sheet to catch any excess.
Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 45–55 minutes. The center should be firm but still a little wobbly when you push the pan.
If the edges of the pie are browning too quickly, cover with foil or a pie cover halfway through baking.
