The Small Part in Your Washing Machine You Should Clean Monthly

🔧 How to Clean It: Step-by-Step

Tools needed: Towel, shallow container or tray, maybe gloves.

  1. Turn off and unplug the machine.

  2. Locate the access panel (bottom front, sometimes rectangular or round).

  3. Place a towel and container underneath to catch any water.

  4. Open the panel (may require a flat-head screwdriver or just pressing a tab).

  5. Slowly unscrew the filter (turn counterclockwise). Some water may spill out.

  6. Remove debris from the filter by hand, then rinse under warm water.

  7. Check the filter housing for any leftover gunk and wipe clean.

  8. Reinsert the filter and screw it back in snugly (don’t overtighten).

  9. Close the panel and you’re done.

⏱️ Time required: 3–5 minutes.

⚠️ Important: If your machine is front-loading and has never been cleaned, be prepared for more water spillage—have a larger container ready.
