Tired of Bland Mashed Potatoes

Instructions:
Boil the potatoes: Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add the diced potatoes and cook until fork tender, which usually takes about 15–20 minutes.
The secret: Drain the cooked potatoes well and return them to the empty saucepan. Immediately mash them with the garlic confit, making sure to include the flavorful oil from the garlic confit for extra richness. If you’re using an alternative “secret ingredient” (roasted garlic, sour cream, or truffle oil), add it now and mash.
Blend to perfection: Add milk or cream, butter (if using), salt, and nutmeg (if using) to the mashed potatoes. Use a hand blender or potato masher to whip the mixture until smooth and creamy.
Serve and garnish: Place the mashed potatoes in a serving bowl. Garnish with fresh chives, bacon bits, or a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese for an extra touch of flavor and presentation.
